Face off: Mary Byrne (right) was sent home on tonight's X Factor after Simon Cowell chose to save Cher Lloyd following the sing-off

Cher Lloyd is just through to the final of this year's The X Factor, after Mary Byrne was voted off.

Simon Cowell was given the deciding vote after Louis Walsh predictably plumped for his last remaining act Mary, with Dannii Minogue and Cheryl Cole saving the teenager.

The Tesco checkout worker, who was in the bottom three last week, sang It's A Man's Man's Man's World - which she originally performed during the first week of the live shows.

Gracious: Mary took the decision well as she was joined on stage by her mentor Louis Walsh, who has no more acts left in the competition

Making the deciding vote, Simon said: 'This is quite straightforward. Mary I have supported you from the beginning and tonight proved what a good singer you are.

'Cher, I actually liked that song you just sang. It was like hearing you for the first time. The act I'm sending through to the final is Cher.'

Before the sing-off, the single mother, 50, admitted she 'expected' to be in the bottom two, but later revealed her highlight of the contest had been 'definitely meeting the soldiers and doing the single for the guys in Afghanistan'.

Looking tearful as she took to the stage, Cher, 17, slowed down her usual uptempo songs to sing Britney Spears's 2004 single Everytime.

Sing off: Mary performed It's A Man's Man's Man's World, while Cher sang Everytime

Presenting the 2010 finalists: (L-R) Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Rebecca Ferguson, Cher and Matt Cardle

Simon's boy band One Direction were the first act to find out they were in the the final, to the delight of their mentor, who hadn't spent much time with them this week after suffering from a cold.

The group spent a lot of the week rehearsing as a four-piece after bandmember Zayn Malik went home to Bradford after his grandfather passed away.

Cheryl also stepped in to mentor them after Simon spent a lot of the week in bed with a cold, despite criticising their rendition of Rihanna's Only Girl In The World, because she thought it was too 'current'.

Next to discover their fate was Liverpudlian Rebecca Ferguson, then Matt Cardle - despite his shaky second performance on Saturday night.

The boys are through: Simon Cowell celebrated with One Direction after they become the first to be told they are in the final

The Essex native, 27, had been suffering from tonsillitis most of last week, so admitted his second performance on Saturday, Billy Joel's Always A Woman, 'was not my best performance'.

Last night's episode kicked off with a performance by X Factor 2008 alumni Alexandra Burke, who performed her new single The Silence.

Wearing a flowing white dress, the 21-year-old belted out the ballad before being lifting up into the sky on a harness.

We're through: Rebecca Ferguson and Matt Cardle celebrate after learning they're through to the final

Coming home: X Factor 2008 alumni Alexandra Burke performed her new single The Silence.

Spectacular: Alexandra was lifted up into the air with a troupe of acrobats and violin players at the climax of the song

The song, which is released tomorrow, is the fifth single from the Deluxe edition of her debut album Overcome.

She was followed by members of the cast of Glee, performing the show's stand-out hit
Don't Stop Believin' - but appeared to be having major sound problems as the members of the cast took to the stage.

Wearing gold dresses were Lea Michele, Jenna Ushkowitz, Dianna Agron, Amber Riley, Heather Morris and Naya Rivera, while the men Cory Monteith, Mark Salling and Kevin McHale wore all black.

Energetic: The Black Eyed Peas performed their new single The Time (Dirty Bit)

The last guest performance of the night was from The Black Eyed Peas - who also performed last year- with their newest single The Time (Dirty Bit).

No doubt there was time for bandmember Will.I.Am to catch up with his friend Cheryl backstage, who he was romantically linked to following her split from ex-husband Ashley Cole earlier this year.

Will.I.Am helped Cheryl choose her three acts at the judges' houses stage of the competition - when she controversially declined to let Gamu Nhengu through, but put Katie Waissel and Cher through - despite neither being able to complete their song.

Sound problems: The cast of hit U.S. TV show Glee performed Don't Stop Believin'

Will said he was 'torn' between if he wanted Rebecca and Cher to win the show, insisting they were 'very different artists'.

Meanwhile, Dannii made another bid to hang onto her X Factor 2010 style queen award in a stunning strapless lace dress with black pumps.

But Girls Aloud singer Cheryl showed a bit more flesh in a asymmetrical leopard-print 'mullet dress' - called so because of its floor-length back and mini-skirted front.

Fashion face-off: Dannii wore a revealing strapless lace number and black pumps, while Cheryl opted for a risky asymmetrical animal print 'mullet' dress and plain black heels

A new guest judge? Hollywood star Jack Black, who was seated in the audience, threw Simon out of his seat on the judging panel during the ad break

Cheryl enjoys a night out with the Girls, the Black Eyed Peas... and her mother

After-work drinks: Cheryl Cole steps out after filming the X Factor to party with the Black Eyed Peas

Most people enjoy a few after-work drinks.

And Cheryl Cole is no different, stepping out post-X Factor last night with her Girls Aloud mates.

The girls arrived at the upmarket Red Room in Mayfair to party with Cheryl's good friends will.i.am and Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas.

As always, Cheryl's mother Joan Callaghan was not far from the star's side, and joined her daughter for the night out.

Dressed in the same white tiered dress with an oversize black bow and blush satin platforms she wore to film the live show last night, Cheryl looked ready to let her hair down.

A-list friends: Cheryl (followed by will.i.am)became close with Fergie (front) when the X Factor judge supported the Black Eyed Peas on their European tour

It was a tense evening for Cheryl, 27, as the competition on X Factor heats up and her contestants Cher Lloyd and Rebecca Ferguson fight for their place in the final.

But she left the office behind as she caught up with Fergie and will.i.am, who had just performed at the Capital 95.8 Jingle Bell Ball.

The group left via the back entrance at the end of the night, Cheryl draped in a mystery man's jacket to keep warm, and went their separate ways.

Air kisses: The pair hugged goodbye before going their separate ways

Fergie ensured she was the centre of attention in a yellow Big Bird-inspired jacket and towering platform heels.

The 35-year-old singer was in great spirits after their festive gig at the O2 Arena, and appeared unconcerned by her husband Josh Duhamel's recent brush with the law.

The actor was escorted off a plane in New York on Friday after he refused to switch off his Blackberry.

Fergie managed to arrive at Heathrow yesterday without a hitch, to perform with her band alongside Nicole Scherzinger, Olly Murs, The Wanted, Jason Derulo and McFly

Girls night: Cheryl's Girls Aloud band mates Sarah Harding (left) and Kimberley Walsh joined in the fun at the Red Room in Mayfair

Party people: Nicola Roberts was dressed to the nines, while will.i.am went casual

Cheryl's Girls Aloud band mates - as usual, sans Nadine Coyle - joined in the fun at the exclusive London club.

The girls were dressed up for the night out, with Sarah Harding continuing her glamorous streak in a strapless satin black dress.

Kimberley Walsh wore a daring metallic mini dress with sheer stockings and a ladylike overcoat.

Always stylish Nicola Roberts, accompanied by boyfriend Charlie Fennel, stood out in a bright magenta dress which was set off by her trademark orange hair.

Me and my shadow: Cheryl's mother Joan tagged along

The velvet frock had an eye-catching asymmetric neckline with an enormous shoulder.
Cheryl's good friend will.i.am was casual in grey trousers, boots and a black jacket, and but added a unique touch with a Lego Black Eyed Peas shoulder-plate.

Her mother Joan Callaghan, who is never far from her side, also attended after accompanying her daughter to the X Factor show earlier in the evening.

The night out will have provided some relief from Cheryl's worry over getting her contestants through to next week as it emerged the judges will not have voting rights in tonight's semi-final results show.

The semi-final results tonight will be a 'sudden death' purely down to the public vote - with Cher battling it out with the remaining acts, Mary Byrne, Matt Cardle, Rebecca and One Direction.

Louis Walsh also revealed that only one person will be eliminated, leaving four acts to battle it out in the final showdown.

Headliners: The Black Eyed Peas kicked off the Jingle Bell Ball festivities earlier in the evening at the O2 Arena in London

International guests: Black Eyed Peas will.i.am, Taboo and apl.de.ap left their hotel in Mayfair yesterday afternoon

miss A’s Suzy causes 2PM’s Taecyeon to be jealous

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJBfug2XwDMendofvid

[starttext]

Love stories between drama characters are always engaging to watch, but what happens when people try to translate them into the real world?

A new romantic fandom was created on December 4th after an interesting incident occurred during the “Dream High” cast interview with “Entertainment Relay“.

During the interview, it was revealed that miss A’s Suzy plays the love interest of both 2PM’s Taecyeon and Kim Soo Hyun. Attempting to bridge the gap between fiction and reality, the reporter asked Suzy, “Between Taecyeon and Kim Soo Hyun, which one of them is closest to your ideal man?”

Suzy, after much hesitation, chose Kim Soo Hyun, causing Taecyeon to burst out of his seat in a fit of jealousy. Taecyeon sputtered, “Normally people don’t choose, but she really chose!”

Castmate Lee Yoon Ji laughingly added, “This is the first time I saw an actress actually choose. Normally, people say ‘both’ or ‘I like this person for this and that person for that.‘”

Suzy shyly attempted to conclude the segment by stating, “I really had a hard time choosing!”

Fangirls are probably typing away furiously at ‘Taecyeon x Suzy’ fanfictions at this very moment.

Double the fun for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt as they take twins to an art store

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Twice as nice: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie took twins Vivienne and Knox to Lee's Art Shop in New York today

Onlookers couldn't help but do a double take as Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt stepped out in New York today.

The power couple were treating their twins Knox and Vivienne to an outing at Lee's Art Shop in Manhattan and emerged from the store with the adorable pair in tow.

The two-year-olds were dressed in matching grey coats, with Vivenne wearing a white knit bonnet to shield her from the cold.

Knox looked just like his famous in a black flat cap and chunky boots.

The family are back in the U.S. after a visit to Paris where Angelina, 35, was promoting her new film, The Tourist, and Brad, 46, was hard at work drumming up interest in the animated film, Megamind.

While it was ostensibly a business trip, the pair did find time for romance during their stay in the city.

They were spotted enjoying an intimate dinner for two on Thursday evening at the world famous Restaurant Guy Savoy, on the Rue Troyon.

Growing up fast: The two-year-olds were wrapped up against the cold

'They came, they said, because Clint Eastwood recommended the restaurant to her. He told her they'd enjoy themselves,' the three-Michelin star chef, Guy Savoy, told America's People magazine.

'Brad was very interested in the style of cuisine and very knowledgeable,' added Savoy.

'And I have to say that I took one look at her and I complimented him on his good taste. She is most beautiful in person.'

The couple also celebrated a special family event during their Parisian jaunt - their son Pax's 7th birthday which they marked by taking a hot air ballon ride and a river boat cruise.

Special time: The couple left the rest of their brood at home for the outing

Kim Kardashian ramps up fitness regime with four workouts in as many days after 'falling off the wagon'

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWe6c_PDewgendofvid

[starttext]

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Now that's dedication: Kim Kardashian arrived for her fourth workout in four days at her local LA gym this morning

She let her punishing fitness regime slip during her recent visit to New York, but Kim Kardashian is back on track.

The reality TV star was spotted heading off to to gym this morning for her fourth work-out in as many days.

Kim, dressed in black leggings, a white vest and zip-up Nike jacket, clutched a bottle of water in one hand and her iPod and headphones in the other as she headed in for a training session.

Yesterday she was seen heading off for a morning jog with a friend in Beverly Hills and visited her local fitness centre on both Wednesday and Thursday.

The 30-year-old star recently admitted she struggled to find time to time to stay in shape during her East Coast visit, where she filmed her new show, Kim and Kourtney Take New York.

Back in the zone: The reality TV star was spotted heading off for a morning jog in Beverly Hills yesterday

The beautiful brunette tweeted last week: 'I hit the gym hard today!!!! I fell off for 8 weeks in NYC BUT IM BAAAACKKKK!'

Now she's back at home in California, she's going all-out to work up a sweat.
Perhaps there's a reason for her new exercise schedule?

The 30-year-old has been spotted spending time with Halle Berry's gorgeous model ex, Gabriel Aubrey.

First seen together at a recent basketball game, onlookers were surprised to see the pair looking close, since Gabriel, 35, has kept a low profile since his split from Halle earlier this year.

But it seems the relationship is making progress.
Kim and Gabriel recently celebrated Thanksgiving together in Los Angeles.

Fitness fanatic: Kim also worked out on Wednesday and Thursday

According to reports Gabriel met Kim's entire family, including sisters Kourtney and Khloe who appear with Kim on their original reality TV show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

He also took her to see Christina Aguilera and Cher's new film, Burlesque, at the Arclight Cinema Theatre in Sherman Oaks.

And while the socialite has been dating Gabriel for just a few short weeks, she is finding it difficult to be discreet about the new romance.
Recently on air with American radio host Ryan Seacrest, Kim couldn't help not to hide her happiness.

'I really do want to stay single,' she said.

'It's really hard when you meet amazing people, and gorgeous people. I'm dating - I'm definitely dating.'

Strictly Come Dancing 2010: Ann Widdecombe dubbed a 'Dalek in drag' for her American Smooth as Pamela Stephenson scores perfect 10s

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yt6_8lOcFlMendofvid

[starttext]

By EMILY SHERIDAN

'More hello trolley than Hello Dolly': Ann Widdecombe's American Smooth with Anton Du Beke didn't impress the judges on Strictly Come Dancing

Ann Widdecombe was described as a 'Dalek in drag' by judge Bruno Tonioli last night after failing to impress with her American Smooth.

The former MP ended up at the bottom of the leader board - unsurprisingly - after her performance to the Hello Dolly theme for the Movie Night quarter-final, while Pamela Stephenson topped it with four perfect 10s.

Dressed in a gold trousers and a red military-style jacket, the 63-year-old received the lowest score ever for the American Smooth after she was lifted up four times by her partner Anton Du Beke.

'A Dalek in drag': Widdecombe was lifted three times by Du Beke during the routine

Alesha Dixon told her: 'It was nice to see a lot more dance content this week. You're still hanging on to Anton for dear life and you have no facial expression.
You haven't improved since last week. I'm afraid for me the honeymoon's over.'

Giving some of the most cutting comments, Bruno remarked: 'It was more like 'Hello trolley' than Hello Dolly. Anton was pushing you around like an overloaded trolley.
'When you were on your own, you looked like a Dalek in drag.'

Quite the actress: Widdecombe started off her dance seated at a dressing table

After Bruno's scathing remarks, Craig Revel-Horwood toned down his usual tough comments, saying: 'I'm going to focus on the positive. All the best moments were for me when your feet weren't touching the floor. The twist knee thing was ok. There was on sashay that was passable.'

But Len Goodman brought it back to negativity: 'American Smooth in its basic form is movement to music. You did move and there was music. Like snow, its fun in the beginning in the end you want it go away.'

Actor Scott Maslen and his partner Natalie Lowe were the first to dance, performing a paso doble to the James Bond theme.

Giving Gavin Henson a run for this money: The song climaxed with Natalie ripping Scott's shirt off

The EastEnders star, 40, went topless for the first time after his Australian partner assured him his 'great body' should be seen by the viewers.

Lowe, 30, showed off her stunning figure in a white bra and pant outfit - obviously inspired by Ursula Andress' famous bikini from Dr No.

Len Goodman teased her: 'Natalie you could have won something a little more revealing, a little more skimpy.'

But costumes aside, he praised the couple: 'You did a wonderful job. It was a hard job, hard choreography and you coped very well.'

Alesha: 'You were giving Gavin a run for his money in the chest performance. It's good to see you back at your best and you're back in the zone.'

Bruno: You've got the license to thrill. You have the determination and the power. You managed to reproduce the Spanish line which wasn't in the track.

Craig: You could have done with a bit more paso shaping through the arms. Your transitions were a bit ropey. But you are back. I loved the choreography. It was virile, red-blooded and hot.'

Grooooooovy baby: Matt Baker and Aliona Vilani performed a fun jive to the Austin Powers soundtrack

TV presenter Matt Baker started off his jive to the Austin Powers theme with a back-flip off the judges table.

The Countryfile star, 32, and partner Aliona Vilani, 26, were dressed in a red velvet suit and Union Jack mini-dress respectively.

Bruno enthused: 'Grooooooovy baby! That was a jive with a swinging sixties flavour. I could have been in Carnaby Street, I was expecting Twiggy to appear.'

In character: Baker kicked off the dance by back-flipping off the judges table

Craig said: 'I absolutely loved it. The characterisation was flawless, it was clean, precise. You did lose timing in the last kick section.'

Len added: 'I liked the backflip thing. The feeling of the dance, little bit light on your feet could have been stronger on the floor, but loved it.'

Pamela Stephenson, who turned 61 today, was supported in the audience by her comedian husband Billy Connolly as she performed the Viennese Waltz to Unchained Melody by The Righteous Brothers from the Ghost soundtrack.

Birthday girl: Pamela Stephenson and partner James Jordan scored 40 for their Viennese Waltz to Unchained Melody

The pair scored four perfect 10s from all of the judges and a standing ovation - the perfect birthday present for the psychologist.

Craig said: 'Elegant, stylish, tasteful, full of emotion... gorgeous!'
Len was quick with his comments: 'Tonight's all about who'll get through to the semi-final and on that performance I'll see you next week.'

Alesha enthused: 'Perfect song, perfect dress... perfectly danced.'

After ending up in the bottom two last weekend, underdog Gavin Henson and Katya Virshilas performed the foxtrot to the Blue Brothers soundtrack.

'Much improvement': Underdog Gavin Henson and Katya Virshilas pleased the judges with their foxtrot to the Blue Brothers soundtrack

Len told the Welsh rugby player: 'That was your best dance. Well done.'

Alesha said: 'You looked like a hot, sexy couple. The confidence is oozing out of you.'

Bruno said: 'You put a lot of work into it and it shows. Much improvement.'

Oozing with confidence: Gavin put himself back in the game after ending up in the bottom two last week

Last to perform was former EastEnders actress Kara Tointon, 27, and her partner Artem Chigvintsev, 28.

The pair addressed rumours they were in relationship, insisting they would only go for date once the show ended.

The couple performed a sizzling tango to Roxanne from the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack.

Sizzling: Kara Tointon and Artem Chigvintsev performed the Argentine tango to Roxanne from the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack

Alesha said: 'Kara I'm absolutely blown away. That's the best tango I've seen on Strictly Come Dancing. It was Oscar-winning performance.'

Bruno enthused: 'Spectacular, spectacular. A tango full of theatrical magic.'
Craig added: 'I only have one word. Fan-tas-ma-gorical.'
